We need your help to Grow Stratford Business and Community. There is a willingness from governing bodies and private enterprise like no other time in history to build on what we have to make sure Stratford District is an even more desirable place to visit, live and invest into the future. All things are possible and you can help the Stratford Business Association promote and lobby new and exciting ideas to keep our town vital and an incredible place to be in the Heart of Taranaki. We welcome your participation.

The Stratford Business Association represents local businesses from various sectors predominantly within the Stratford District. We are committed to adding value to your business, by delivering services and benefits and being an advocate on your behalf. We are committed to promoting local trade, services, tourism and products, as well as assisting business and the running of community events which benefit businesses, residents and ratepayers in the urban and rural communities of Stratford District.
The aim of the association is to grow Stratford into a dynamic town with sound employment opportunities, and help make it a desirable place to live.
Your membership fee can assist the Association participate in many local and regional events which help promote Stratford, not only regionally but all over New Zealand.
The association regularly communicates with their members by email, keeping them updated with regional seminars, marketing and development opportunities and regulatory changes.

Our Brand

As members of the Stratford Business Association you will also be a part of the association ‘Heart of Taranaki’ brand. In mid-2017 the Stratford Business Association will be launching this brand for its promotion and marketing material of the Stratford District.

With the aims of growing Stratford as a place to visit, live and invest, ‘Heart of Taranaki’ is the face of all the Association’s promotional activities to help grow business and the community.

What the brand symbolises is the two core strengths we want to promote outside the district:

  • Location – We are in the centre of Taranaki. This is important because it allows companies, especially ones in the primary sector the ability to centralise their operations and cut costs. It is also important in the tourism section because we can provide the best access of Mount Taranaki and The Forgotten World while only being less than 30 minutes drive from anywhere in the region.
  • Heart – Stratford is a small town with small town values. We want to communicate to the rest of New Zealand that Stratford is a safe town that welcomes visitors, residences and businesses to the district.

Association Website:

Alongside the development of the ‘Heart of Taranaki’ brand, we will be launching our new website which will be aimed to help grow tourism, residents and business to the town.

All Stratford businesses will be listed on this website. By becoming a Stratford Business Association Member you will receive a business listing which with addition to your free listing, will allow you to provide potential customers with contact information as well as give you the ability to marketing your business to the world through added photos and media, additional information and links.

There will be three levels to business listings on this website.

Standard ListingFree to all Stratford Businesses in the district.

Business Listing$50 annually which includes a membership with the Stratford Business Association.

Premium Listing$350 annually which includes a membership with Stratford Business Association.

What a premium listing provides members is the ability to manage your listing directly. This gives you the ability to link your personalised domain to your page to treat it as your website and direct customers to here. You will also have the potential of adding an online shop to your page to help drive sales and promote awareness of your products. Premium listing will also have priority and be at the top of each section on the website.

Membership Stickers & Vouchers:

To ensure that customers know that they can use the Stratford Business Association gift vouchers in your store you will receive a membership sticker to place in your window.

Members will also have access to the Stratford Business Association gift voucher scheme. These are currently used by local businesses for customer care or staff gifts, and can also be purchased by members of the public.
The vouchers are supplied by the Business Association and have been designed and printed locally. The vouchers can be purchased through the Stratford District Council or Stratford Paper Plus and are sold in $10, $20 and $50 denominations.
Vouchers can only be redeemed at Stratford Business Association members businesses. Business can then attach the voucher to an invoices addressed to the Stratford Business Association and will be reimbursed for the voucher amount.

Networking & BA5s

Business after Five Functions:

BA5’s present an excellent opportunity to get together after work with other local businesses and network in a friendly informal setting over free drinks and nibbles.

BA5’s are held monthly and are hosted by a different local business each time at their premises (or a different premises if theirs is not suitable). As a new member, the functions are a great way to get to know your local community and other businesses. As a member you will be advised of all BA5’s and their locations via email. Mediaworks attend each BA5 and run business card and member draws, with the winners receiving a bottle of wine and a $500 Mediaworks advertising voucher. Further the Mountain House also donate a $50 voucher in a business card draw.


Hosting – You may be interested in hosting a BA5, which is a great way to showcase your business and gain some worthwhile contacts.

The Stratford Business Association Secretary will take care of the invitation, advising their members of the event and RSVPs, all you need to do as a host is arrange drinks and nibbles. You will then invoice the Stratford Business Association who will reimburse you, capped at $200.

Media Partnership:

The Stratford Business Association has a Media Partnership with Mediaworks Taranaki. More FM radio station is played along Broadway on the street speakers supplied by the Stratford Business Association.

As part of the partnership, Mediaworks also work in conjunction with the association to run a Mid-year promotion to encourage and promote local shopping. A month of advertising activity is provided by Mediaworks to advocate the promotion including, 30 second ads, announcer ad-libs, weekly prize draw and the grand prize draw. Mediaworks also provide the printed collateral, text entry facilities, web and Facebook posts, as well as sourcing the main prize.
